Wiri Mob

Families and community members are warmly invited to join the WiriMob - our Aboriginal Community Group. The WiriMob is dedicated to supporting our community and celebrating Aboriginal culture through meaningful activities and events.
WiriMob meetings are held several times a term, come and join our group, share your ideas and have your voice heard. WiriMob volunteers have the opportunity to participate in cultural experiences, community projects, and special events that make a positive impact. Whether you bring particular skills or simply want to contribute your time and ideas, your involvement is valued.
Join us to connect with others, deepen your understanding of Aboriginal culture, and help strengthen our community. Together, we can achieve great outcomes.
Please watch our Facebook page for information about when our WiriMob meetings are held.
Yarning Circle
A yarning circle at Wiripaang Public School is a special space used for sharing, listening, and learning together. In Aboriginal culture, yarning circles are important for bringing people together to talk, solve problems, and build respect.
At Wiripaang Public School, the yarning circle might be used for:
- Learning about Aboriginal culture: Students sit in the circle to hear stories and learn about Aboriginal history and traditions.
- Sharing ideas: Everyone gets a turn to talk in the circle, which helps all students feel included and heard.
- Building respect: The yarning circle teaches students to listen, be respectful, and work together.
- Meetings and activities: Teachers or community members sometimes use the circle for special lessons, discussions, or community events.
The yarning circle helps make Wiripaang Public School welcoming and respectful for everyone, especially Aboriginal students and their families.
PLP - Personalised Learning Plan
At Wiripaang Public School, Aboriginal students have Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs) to help them do their best at school.
These plans:
- Are made together with the student, their family, and teachers.
- Set out goals for learning.
- Involve families and community members in helping the student.
- Are checked and updated regularly to make sure the student’s needs are being met.
